DIY Bookend

In this kit, you get everything you need to assemble your own book nook. The only things you need to provide yourself are glue – we recommend wood glue and super glue – and a book you no longer use.

Remember that you can create your book nook however you like, and the arrangement we show here is just an example and a guide on one way to do it.

The most important thing is that you are happy with the result yourself ❤️

 

 

Remember to let the glue dry between each step, especially the wood glue.

 

Use wood glue to glue all the pages of the book together along the sides and on top. Make sure the pages are completely straight and flat – this will make it much easier to attach the shelves later. Feel free to use clamps or similar to hold everything in place while the glue dries. Be generous with the glue, but avoid large clumps on the pages.

 

You can use 2 screws to attach the base plate through the book cover, from the underside. This makes the book nook extra sturdy – a method we also use on our own.

 

Cut one piece of fabric to your desired rug size. Glue it in place with wood glue where you want it.

 

Before gluing anything, arrange all the furniture to see how you want it. Once you are satisfied with the arrangement, you can proceed.

 

Once you have decided on the placement, glue the armchair and the lamp in place.

 

Glue a flower into a pot you like. Glue the pot and possibly a book onto the small table, then glue the table into place in the book nook.

 

Glue another pot and flower combination on top of the bookshelf. Then place and glue the books you want on the shelf, before gluing the entire bookshelf where you want it in the book nook.

 

Cut the other piece of fabric to fit as a small blanket. Glue it over the armchair. Alternatively, you can fold the fabric into the shape of a pillow.

 

Use the largest pot and the large leaves to create a floor plant. Glue the leaves into the pot, then glue the pot into a desired spot in the book nook.

 

Glue the rest of the flowers into the remaining pots. Place these on the large and small shelf – feel free to add a book there too if you wish. Glue everything securely where you want it in the book nook.

Alternatively in this process, you can use a hot glue gun instead of super glue.
Remember that you need to place things quickly, as hot glue dries fast and loses its adhesive power when it cools.

You can also paint both pots and furniture if you want a different color, or add more elements if you wish.
