Workshops and events

Create ~ Play ~ Learn

Experience the hobby with us.

Whether you are brand new or have been doing this for many years, we want to create events that are educational, creative, and social. At Miniastyr, you can try new hobbies, learn new techniques, and take home something you've made yourself.

All events can be adapted for individuals, families, groups of friends, birthdays, schools, businesses, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and other groups.

Our courses and workshops

🏡 Paint your own hobbit hole

Create your own small world inspired by Tolkien.

In this workshop, you will receive a pre-built hobbit hole made of 3D-printed parts, XPS foam, and an MDF baseplate, which you will paint and decorate yourself. Along the way, you will learn simple techniques for base coating, dry brushing, detail painting, and how small details bring the model to life.

At the end of the day, you take your hobbit hole home.

Suitable for

  • Beginners
  • Families
  • Tolkien enthusiasts
  • Creative souls

No prior knowledge is needed – all equipment is included.

🏔️ Terrain course

Learn how to build your own landscapes and game boards.

In this course, we will go through how to use simple and inexpensive materials to create realistic terrain for role-playing games and miniature games.

You will learn, among other things, how to work with materials such as:

  • XPS and EPS foam
  • Cork
  • Sand and stone
  • Filler and glue
  • Flocking and static grass
  • Painting techniques
  • Simple effects like water, moss, and snow

The goal is for you to be able to go home and create fantastic terrain with simple means.

🏰 Diorama and Booknook course

Build a world full of history and detail

A diorama is more than a model – it is a story. In this course, you will learn how to combine models, terrain, lighting, and small details to create atmospheric scenes that capture a moment.

Whether you dream of a bustling street in a fantasy city, an ancient ruined castle, or a hobbit hole among the books on your bookshelf, you will learn the techniques that turn ideas into reality.

This is an advanced course, and we recommend that you have participated in “Paint your own hobbit hole” or the Terrain course first. This way, you will already know the basic techniques, allowing us to spend more time on design, composition, and details.

In the course, you will learn, among other things

  • Planning and construction of a diorama or book nook
  • Composition, lighting, and details that create atmosphere
  • Painting techniques and effects that bring the model to life
  • How to combine different materials into a cohesive result

The course is suitable for

Perfect for those who want to take their hobby one step further and create unique display models or atmospheric book nooks. The course is best suited for participants who already have some experience with painting or terrain building.

Everything you need is included

Miniastyr provides materials, tools, and guidance throughout the entire process. The goal is for you to go home with both new knowledge and a project you can be proud of.
